Keep Your Head Up Lyrics

I know, what leads up to a fall.
As I sing, it brings the ground up to my jaw.

A busted lip, is from where the blood drips.
I fell right on my face.
All my hopes, and my plans, and my dreams.
Just slid right out of place.

Now tell me Mr. Owl, exactly …
how many trips does it take.
To get to the center of the track,
and see it took you out of the race.

(DANGER, DANGER!)
The head's too big!
Right and left leg, brace for impact,
the neck's about to give.

That's affirmative command,
but we can't do this own our own.
So talk to the hands.

(DANGER, DANGER!)
Sorry we've been compromised
shoulders raised us in the air,
elbows locked us to the sky.

And we're throwing up some signs.
Victory, I'm number one,
but we've yet to cross the line.

Today, sorry to say,
May-day we're going down.

'Ladies, and gentlemen he's going down.
Please brace for the sound as his face hits the ground.'

Captain's log, dear diary and journal,
we've confirmed the conflict was internal
The threat is unidentified,
the intruder left a trail,
so we know it's still inside.

Lost focus in the eyes,
next were the ears ...
nothing heard is clear
What's left is the taste and smell.
The mouth might be the hideout,
but the tongue won't tell.

(DANGER, DANGER!)
The head's too big!
Right and left leg, brace for impact,
the neck's about to give.

That's affirmative command,
but we can't do this own our own.
So talk to the hands.

(DANGER, DANGER!)
Sorry we've been compromised
shoulders raised us in the air,
elbows locked us to the sky.

And we're throwing up some signs.
Victory, I'm number one,
but we've yet to cross the line.

As the cause of the fall becomes clear,
we begin to black out.

'We have seen them fall, crawl, and cry,
but we've never seen once pass out, in his own puddle of pride.'

What happened? (I just lost a fight.)
Confidence and self esteem? (They just took to flight.)
I guess I gotta get 'em back. (They're no where in sight)
I'm left with a new found fear of heights

And if I ever, get up
I'll make sure to keep my, head up
And at the very next race,
I may be the only one running with a neck brace.

Hi my name is Jaice.
I fell right on my face
Can't blame it on a shoelace.
That simply wasn't the case

When I fell it was a disgrace.
I got pride all over the place
Now I'm gonna pick up my pace.
So I can finish this race.

I know, what leads up to a fall.
It's called pride, it makes your senses go AWOL

Story of the song

Only after the humbling experience was I able to see the truth that was hidden during the fall. The intruder, Pride, cleverly compromised my senses; it prevented me from seeing clearly and hearing the warnings until it was too late. The saying is true, 'The swells of pride make for the best of downfalls'.
